This is an excellent class for a technician looking to expand his or her service abilities in the area of drive trains repair.  This class will cover the operation, power flow, service and diagnosis of modern manual transmissions.  With the increased costs associated with manual transmission repair, having a technician capable of proper diagnosis and repair procedures is critical in a well-rounded, truly full service shop.

This class will cover the following main topics:

• Clutch operation and diagnosis
• Proper clutch service
• Bearing noise diagnosis
• Bearing service and special tools  
• Synchronizer and blocker ring diagnosis
• Cluster gear service
• Transaxle differential service
• Bearing shim selection and setup

This will be a hands-on intensive class with minimum classroom time.  Each student will have the opportunity to get involved in lab activities to better one’s understanding of manual transmission service and repair.  Some prior knowledge of manual transmission repair is helpful but not required.    This class will be limited in size and will fill on a first come first served bases.  A workbook will be provided.  This in one in a series of classes offered by the Association that will help a technician prepare for upcoming ASE Technician certification exams.

A light dinner will be provided for all paid attendees.
